Is this hadith authentic? Is Celibacy, ie not getting married, allowed in Islam?

Question:

Shaykh Sahab,

Is there a hadith in which a lady was forced to marry and she came to the messenger of Allah peace be upon him and said:

O messenger I was forced to marry

and the messenger of Allah peace be upon him decided to annul the marriage, The lady then finally said

“O messenger I will never marry a man again”

I want to know whether this hadith is authentic and in which book of hadith is it narrated? and if this hadith is true doesn’t that mean that being celibate is allowed in Islam?

Your Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa-ramatullahi wa-barakatuh.

There is no basis for the narration in reference.

Celibacy is not permissible. Islaam encourages one to get married.

In Islam , a Man or Woman should marry..

And the marriage should be between a MAN and a WOMAN.

And Allah Ta`ala Knows Best.
