مختار کل کون ؟
Another major difference in Aqeeda, core beliefs, concerns Mukhtar-e-Kull.
Does the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ have power or control over all matters of the universe and other worlds?
Ahle Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah Deoband’s aqeeda & belief is that Prophet Muhammed ﷺ does NOT have power/control over all matters of the universe and other worlds.
This power/control over all matters of the universe and other worlds is possessed only by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.
‘Mukhtar e Kull’ is an attribute of ONLY Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. The Sifaat of Mukhtar-e-Kull are possessed only by Allah.
- Whatever Allah Wishes,
- When Ever Allah Wishes,
- Which Way Allah Wishes,
Allah is ALL POWERFUL and can make it HAPPEN, and NO ONE else can make it happen, and NO ONE can question ALLAH’s action as to why it happened.
To say the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is Mukhtar e Kull, to consider the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is Mukhtar e Kull, or to have a NAZRIYA that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is Mukhtar e Kull is SHIRK.
Is Shirk the Greatest Sin of All?
Shirk is the gravest of all sins, and if one dies without repenting, one shall not be forgiven.
The Ahle Bidah Brewalis Aqeedah teaches that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has power and control over all matters of the universe and other worlds.
- According to the Ahle Bidah Brewalis, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was Mukhtar e Qul; so how come the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ could not make Abu Jahal a Muslim?

Say, “I hold not for myself [the power of] benefit or harm, except what Allah has willed. And if I knew the unseen, I could have acquired much wealth, and no harm would have touched me. I am not except a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe.” |
Surat ul Aeyraaf (Surah: 7 Verse: 188)

You surely cannot guide whoever you like ˹O Prophet˺, but it is Allah Who guides whoever He wills, and He knows best who are ˹fit to be˺ guided.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran You cannot give guidance to whomsoever you wish, but Allah gives guidance to whomsoever He wills, and He best knows the ones who are on the right path.
